A lot of you have asked us about our whole animal mentality, but some of you might not know about that yet. So let us explain.
When we take on the responsibility of raising the animals on our farm we take on the charge to not make those animals lives be lived in vain. They are raised for meat and so must be slaughtered and processed in order for us to have the meat from them. However, that doesn't mean that we just take the cuts we like and pitch the rest! That's what we consider wasteful and down right disrespectful!
Therefore, when we take our animals to be processed we get everything we can back from the processor! (Heads, Feet, Organs, Bones, Skins/Pelts, etc.) Yes most people might not use these and most people will think that it's just strange that someone would use them, but we think it's great! We search out and find these people like its our mission.
We are going to use this section to highlight these items and give you an idea of what items we are having a hard time moving! Take a look at these items and if your brave enough give them a try. You will be our new best friend. If you have a recipe that uses these please share it with us so that we can share it will our other customers and feature the item so that we can work together to use the Whole Animal!
At this time of transition for our family and our farm we are exploring new ideas to make our farm successful!
One of those ideas are Buying Clubs. A Buying Club is a way that you, our customer, can still get all of our Pasture Raised Meats that you have grown to love, but instead of either of us having to get up and go to a farmers market on the weekend we meet up at a drop point and we deliver your meats that you have pre-ordered online.
This helps us by knowing what we have sold, and only packing those items as well as keeps us from having to spend our entire weekend at markets.
We have loved our markets and getting to meet new people that share our love for farm fresh meats has been great, but we have lots to do on the farm to keep up with demand and we want to spend more of our weekends with our family. The family that is growing come February!
